Loom Guard Protection
In 2000 when the forth generation Ford Transit was launched, the ECU was programmed so that if the rear door loom was cut, it would unlock all the doors. Thieves soon noticed this vulnerability. Ford swiftly corrected it, but still today thieves try this method. This results in not only a costly bill, but the inconvenience of the doors not being able to unlock.
The Loom Guard is the original product designed to prevent this. Whilst many have copied our solution, no-one has matched it. A simple milled and coated aluminium block slots around the loom allowing minimum exposure when the door is closed – preventing a cutting tool to gain access through the gap to cut it. Constructed from solid Aluminium and coated in a white durable Powder coat, it makes the Loom Guard extremely strong. This offers great protection to an otherwise vulnerable area.
The Ford Connect also has this vulnerability with the front doors and the loom between the Cab door/wing. We have designed and produced a bespoke plate for the front cab doors that shields the loom from attack.
